Bird & Diz is a studio album by saxophonist Charlie Parker and trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie, recorded primarily on June 6, 1950 in New York City.[3] Two tracks featured on the original pressing, "Passport" and Visa", were recorded by Parker, without Gillespie and with a different personnel than that of the other tracks, in March and May of 1949.[4] Originally issued in 10" LP format, as a collection of 78 rpm singles, in 1952[5] on Verve subsidary label Clef Records,[6] Bird & Diz was produced by Norman Granz and was the final collaborative studio recording by the bebop pioneers.[7] It is also notable for featuring an early appearance of Thelonious Monk. The album has been reissued several times by Verve and PolyGram Records.
