[edit] Invitation to join Wikipedia:WikiProject Vietnam

Dear Binh Giang, thank you for the great work you're doing on Vietnam-related articles. There are just a few of us doing this work, and I'd like to invite you to join Wikipedia:WikiProject Vietnam, where those of us who are interested put together ideas of which articles to create and improve. We'd love to have your expertise and ideas, so if you'd like to, just add your name there under "Participants." Happy editing, Badagnani 17:53, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ba Be Lake

Thanks for clarifying; I think if we had a map it would explain how there are three parts to the lake. Badagnani 07:57, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cuisine

User:DHN says you're knowledgeable about Vietnamese cuisine? Is that right? Because I often need help with such articles, especially when creating new ones. Would you be available to answer questions about items of Vietnamese cuisine? Badagnani 07:58, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cam sành

Can you add anything you can find from your knowledge or Vietnamese sources about Cam sành (especially where it's grown)? It's supposed to be a famous agricultural product of Vietnam. Badagnani 22:04, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Ah, this makes things complicated. I had suspected that there was more than one fruit using the name. Of course, my friend who took the photo only knows the thick-skinned one and said there is no thin-skinned variety. So that means that the thin-skinned one might be a mandarin and the thick-skinned one is the hybrid with the sweet orange? Badagnani 17:40, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bánh tẻ photos

You're great to put your own photos of bánh tẻ! Hope you can take more photos of bánh and other Vietnamese foods; we have a lot that need photos. Badagnani 06:42, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Death anniversary

Hi, I think we need an article on the Vietnamese death anniversary (when you celebrate the day of the death of your grandparents or other old relatives). Is the name mệnh nhật (from Sino-Vietnamese )? It may be best to put all the East and Southeast Asian holidays (which maybe come from Confucianism) in a single article. Badagnani (talk) 03:25, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Is it ngày giỗ or bữc giỗ? Badagnani (talk) 03:26, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

I got mệnh nhật by converting the Han tu to Vietnamese. I guess you have a native word for this, so use the Vietnamese words instead of the Sino-Vietnamese ones. What do you think about an article covering this thing in all the East Asian and Southeast Asian countries that do it? China, Korea, Japan, and Vietnam. Badagnani (talk) 03:35, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Here in America, people don't know anything about this, so it would be educational for English speakers. According to a friend in Vietnam, as well as the film The Vertical Ray of the Sun, this is an important event that happens several times a year, and people cook elaborate foods. It seems really important, at least in Vietnam. But in China, under communist rule, maybe it's frowned upon. Did the government in Vietnam also try to suppress it because they think it's superstitious, or is this one of the things they just think it's impossible to squash, since it's such an ingrained part of Vietnamese society and culture (and gives people a bond to their ancestors, who were so wise and fought for their freedom)? Badagnani (talk) 03:48, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

You told me "There is an article on ngày giỗ in Vietnamese Wikipedia," so can you show me where that article is? Is it this one: vi:giỗ? Badagnani (talk) 04:19, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Is this food typical of that cooked and served at a giỗ? Badagnani (talk) 04:20, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

So the "xôi-chè" (xôi and chè) are served for death anniversaries? My friend who took this picture said it was taken for the first birthday of one of her baby relatives. So xôi-chè can be cooked for either a death anniversary or a first birthday? Badagnani (talk) 04:29, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Trai sai

Hi, do you know if "trai sai" (this photo and this photo) is the same as Irvingia? Badagnani (talk) 08:17, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Question

In the expression "vắng chủ nhà, gà vọc niêu tôm," what does "vọc" mean? Badagnani (talk) 22:44, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks--can you check this entry? Badagnani (talk) 02:45, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ruou de still

Would like to have more information about the ruou de still in the photo--do you know where it was taken? Badagnani (talk) 02:22, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Other liquors?

Does this article talk about any other liquors we don't have articles about yet? It looks like one contains chrysanthemum flowers, and another ginseng or some other kind of root. Badagnani (talk) 02:27, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disambiguations

Hi, it seems that you're creating disambiguations in the province articles themselves, but not actually making a separate disambiguation page for each place name (with diacritics). That should probably have been done (by a bot) before you spent a lot of time by hand to do what you're doing. Badagnani (talk) 17:53, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Page moves

Hi, we generally haven't been moving pages to titles with diacritics. Badagnani (talk) 23:57, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Your t'rưng photo

Hi, can you tell me why your t'rưng photo says it's Bahnar in Vietnamese, but says it's Ede in English? Badagnani (talk) 05:57, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
