[edit] Episode recap

Garfield and Jon attend a trial where Binky the Clown is being charged with committing crimes around the city, and when Binky is seriously questioned, he keeps making jokes. After he makes one joke too many, Garfield can’t stand it and leaves the courtroom. He ponders how Binky got into such a situation, so he picks up the script to that episode and goes back a few pages.

He reads about a man named Stinky Davis who disguised himself as Binky and then began a crime wave. The police then come after the real Binky, who escapes and then eventually hides in a bakery. The police lure him out of the bakery by playing entrance music on a calliope (as well as producing a spotlight in front of the bakery), after which he is captured and then IDed in a lineup.

Garfield decides to try and clear Binky’s good name, so he searches for Stinky. He finds Stinky (still dressed like Binky) in a circus parade, and Garfield then disguises himself as a parade director and leads the parade into the courtroom. Stinky then tries to run away and then crashes into Binky, and then people can’t distinguish which is the real Binky. Garfield solves this by having the judge say, “Order in the court”, to which Binky requests an order. The police take Stinky away; then Jon tells Garfield that Binky probably wants to thank him, which Binky soon does. After he gives Garfield a gift box containing a spring-loaded pie, and promising to come see Garfield every day as a further way of saying thank you, Garfield wonders if clearing Binky was a mistake.
