[edit] Page creation just to redirect

Do not do this. Do not create pages just to direct them to another page. Wikipedia is not a directory for abbreviations or slang. Doing this causes issues in that it makes it easy for people to actually use these pages to create duplicate articles. Wikiepedia is not a warehouse for your personal abbreviations, slang, or spelling challenges (i.e. Stephano DiMera verses the correct Stefano DiMera). Please stop this behavior. Sorry! Thought it was ok when I saw that Andre DiMera redirects to André DiMera. Bilttd biscoi (talk) 20:51, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
No, it's not "okay." Sometimes a page is accidentally created with a misspelling (or in the case of André someone doesn't know how to add an accent mark to the e) but to actively create pages just to redirect them in not acceptable. KellyAna (talk) 21:27, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
That's not entirely true. We don't want people making thousands of redirects from every potential spelling mistake, but it's generally OK to make a redirect for a title that could be an article on its own, but is currently a small topic in another article. Tondre DiMera has been deleted, though; it doesn't seem to be mentioned at the target article. Gimmetrow 23:22, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
