Bil Herd was an early designer of home computers while working for Commodore Business Machines in the early 1980's. Bil designed the Commodore C-128, the Plus 4, C116, C264, C364 and C-16 machines and also the intial architecture of the Commodore LCD computer.

Herd continued to design faster and more powerful computers with emphasis on machine vision and is co-author on a patent involving n-dimensional pattern matching.

Herd has undertaken an entrepreneurial role and is owner of several small companies: InterActive Network Systems, Inc, InterActive Design Solutions, Inc and JerseyNet.
