[edit] Wife's Handicap
"He also has admited that his wife uses a handicapped parking permit despite having no visible physical impairments, although having a visible handicap is not a requirement for having a permit."
What does this have to do with anything? - Jaysus Chris 06:07, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
Mr. Handel has talked in the past about his wife's back problems. That is the reason for her having a handicaped parking permit. In most cases, people with such a permit have no obvious handicap (heart problems, joint injuries, cardio-vascular disease). Mushrom 20:52, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Bigoted statements
"and has twin daughters named Pamela and Barbara that he sends to a private "Jew" school instead of the Southern California Public school system.." This is utterly reprehensible, and I have removed it. Jonas Salk
I wish someone would verify for me that in biographies it is common wiki practice, in the first sentence, to state the person's ethnicity or race. Thanks. --An Irish-American, formerly Catholic.
They are not bigoted statements describing him, But statements he has made in his own words, hence the quotation marks. He proudly proclaims sending them to many "Jew" prefixed functions. As in "I send my kids to Jew School not public school, then I feed them ham for dinner." or "I send my kids to Jew camp (he actually does send them to a summer camp for Jewish Children)where they learn to lend money at userous rates."
"Jew School" is part of his self depricating humor, his comedy routine and his on air personality.
he has gleefullly talked about ordered bacon cheeseburgers for members of the ADL when they came to talk to him about som eof the comments he has made.
Bill Handel proudly proclaims being Jewish (one of the sound bites played on during the show whever the subject of money comes up is one of his children saying "We're Jewish." He also proudly proclaims himself Latino (or a Latino-Jew) as his parents are from Brazil---the poster who has posted much of the information in the Handel entry
[edit] Flagged as unverified
I flagged the article as it currently stands as "unverified" because a large portion of it includes information that doesn't appear to be taken from the linked resources. There was also at least one broken reference link in the article.
So while the information in the article is probably correct, it needs additional references to verify all the information included in this biography. Information that ultimately can't be verified by a cited reference should be temporarilly removed from the article. Dugwiki 19:44, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
- I have cited most of the statements and removed the tag. Calwatch 03:36, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ceneter Right and Israel
Is there something incompatible about being pro-Israel and center right? The overwhelming majority of Americans believe in the right of the state of Israel to defend itself. I don't think it's something that goes down liberal/conservative lines. Theshibboleth 06:36, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Nobel Peace Prize nomination
- On December 1, 2005, Handel announced that he was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by an unnamed member of the United States House of Representatives. Reasons provided for his nomination include, among other things: the promotion of racial harmony through his radio program. Handel's nomination is believed to be in direct response to the fact that Stanley Tookie Williams, one of the founders of the Los Angeles criminal gang "The Crips," is a multi Nobel Prize nominee and he sat on California's Death Row for multiple murders until his execution. Handel has stated he received the nomination in under 24 hours of asking for any political representative to nominate him. [1]
Being nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize is an honor, but it is not official or even prestigious. Any national legislator or about a third of the university professors in the world can make a nomination, and there have been as many as 140 some years. Nominators are requested to keep their nominations secret, so it's only those wishing publicity who make announcements, and more often it is impossible to verify. I see no reason to keep it. No offense to the subject, this is a general Nobel Peace Prize "nominees" issue. -Will Beback · † · 08:39, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
- This is precisely the satirical point Handel was making, and therefore this point should be retained in his biog. Tookie Williams' supporters were touting his nomination as a sign of his redemption; Handel his own nomination to demonstrate that being nominated is easy and of no particular merit. - Wikipedia doesn't exist to help radio personalities make satirical points. When he actually wins the prize we'll be happy to include the reference. -Will Beback · † · 03:52, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
"We" beg to differ. The Nobel nomination is and example of the Handel schtick that has led to his popularity and commercial success. Handel doesn't need Wikipedia to make satirical points; but this example helps Wikipedia understand Handel. User talk:Nikitin 12 Jan 2007

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Bill Handel.jpg
Image:Bill Handel.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.DHowell 00:31, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
