Talk:Bill Delahunt

Are there any sources where this information was found?
I am taking out the following: "In some circles, Delahunt's actions seem almost worthy of treason due to the fact the Hugo Chavez is certainly not a friend to the United States. This is not the first time Delahunt's critics have questioned his actions. The Congressman has made several trips “junkets” to Cuba over the years."
I am taking it out because it sounds "Republicanly biased." Its nothing but slanderous partisan rhetoric that has no place in a Non POV setting. He wouldnt have to go to outside sources if Republicans found sympathy for Americans. In some circles, Republicans are looked at as Un American, pro business, pro rich, i.e. screw the poor, screw the needy, screw America we want to give it all to our buddies in big business. Exon jumped back up to the number 1, over walmart and gmc BECAUSE of Republicans letting them rip off Americans. Gas topped $6 a gallon in some parts of the country. Mr. Delahunt did not see that as FAIR and so he compromised with Mr. Chavez to "bring the bacon" home to his state. What good has GW and the Republican congress done for anyone but themselves and their buddies???? Its people like you who bring a bad name and image to wikipedia. It you feel it sooo necessary to express your viewpoint, make sure you post the other side fairly too. Dont just make it a half ass statement, pour some heart into it and make it interesting and detailed while having unbiased sources to get your information.
[edit] Outpaced/outdated
I changed the word "outpaced" to "outdated" in the statement on Coast Guard resources because it seemed a mistake. Outpaced did not make sense in that context; and while Delahunt is my Congressman, I don't know if the statement is true or not.
I got the information from Mr. Delahunt's webpage, http://www.house.gov/delahunt/savecoastfunds.htm I changed it back to "outpaced" because that was the correct word. Here is the full quote:
“The indisputable fact is that the demands on the Coast Guard have vastly outpaced its resources. There is no longer margin for error in the post 9/11 world,” Delahunt said. “We should be looking for ways to speed up the Deepwater program and encourage the purchase of additional cutters and aircraft. What the Coast Guard needs is not further reductions, but rather increases -- not of millions but of billions of dollars”.
It is correct because he is trying to say that the demands put upon the Coast Guard go beyond their resources and it becomes overburdened due to a lack of resources. If the demands outdated their resources, then that would be saying the resources are old and need to be replaced. But the real intent behind the statement was that there are resources, they are just smalled than the demands.
[edit] Tyrant?
I changed the word "tyrant" to "leader" because, no matter how much you hate Hugo Chávez, he is a democratic elected president with broad support among the lower income people of Venezuela.
In November 2005, he met with Hugo Chavez and engineered a deal in which Venezuela would supply winter home heating oil at a 40% price reduction to thousands of low-income Massachusetts residents. The deal was carried out via the Venezuelan owned Citgo, and brought accusations that Delahunt was assisting an anti-American leader.
