Billy Williams (cricketer)

Ambrose Causer Williams, better known as 'Billy Williams' was a first class cricketer who played 12 matches for Yorkshire County Cricket Club between 1911 and 1919. He played in the Lancashire League for Haslingden in 1920 and 1921 and for Yorkshire Second XI from 1911 to 1919.
He was born on March 1, 1887 in Middlewood, Darfield, Yorkshire and died on June 1, 1966 in Morecambe, Lancashire.
A right arm fast bowler he took 30 wickets at 22.60 with his best a remarkable effort of 9 for 29 against Hampshire CCC. He took five wickets in an innings twice and 10 wickets in a match on that one occasion.
He scored 95 runs, as a right hand bat, with a best of 48* against Derbyshire CCC. He took 6 catches in the field.
