Billy Bates (baseball)

William Derrick Bates (born December 7, 1963, in Houston, Texas) is a former Major League Baseball second baseman. He is an alumnus of the University of Texas at Austin.
Drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 4th round of the 1985 MLB amateur draft, Bates made his Major League Baseball debut with the Milwaukee Brewers on August 17, 1989, and appeared in his final game on October 18, 1990, when he scored the winning run for the Reds in Game 2 of the World Series. He never made another appearance in the Major Leagues again.
