From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The billboards of Lahore reveal a lot about its culture. Below are some billboards in the city of Lahore, Pakistan, photographed in 2004.
This billboard for United Bank Limited is on top of the Alfalah building, located at the Charing Cross in Lahore, right next to the Punjab Assembly building. The Honda City car featured on the billboard costs about $17,500 US. Due to car financing, there are now a record number of new cars in Lahore, mostly imported. |
Lahore is the capital of the Pakistani film industry. After having been largely ignored for several years, the industry is beginning to see a revival, with films generally increasing in quality and expenditure, and Cinepax introducing Pakistan's first nationally branded cineplex chain. |
This Pampers billboard is an indication of the growing middle class in Lahore. A pack of Pampers costs approximately Rs.100 ($1.65 US). |
