Bill Miller is an Australian producer. He was born in Chinchilla, Queensland, Australia.

BILL MILLER (Producer) shares the honour of being an Academy Award nominee with his brother, George Miller and long-time producing partner Doug Mitchell for their work as producers on the ‘talking pig’ hit family film “Babe.” In addition to being nominated for Best Picture in 1996, the film earned a total of seven Academy Award nominations, winning the Oscar for Best Visual Effects. It also won a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture (Comedy/Musical) and garnered a BAFTA Award nomination for Best Film. Following the success of “Babe”, he also went on to serve as a producer on its sequel, “Babe: Pig in the City”.

He attributes an early interest in movies to the time their father “tuned up” the family television set ... speculating “I believe it was cultural activism. That tv sat lifeless under a tablecloth in the corner of the living room and never glowed again. Our father was a very wise man.” So, instead of the usual nightly television fare, the four Miller brothers grew up on a steady diet of films at the local art deco cinema in Rose Bay.

Like George, who gave up practicing medicine to become a film director, Bill, a successful arts and entertainment lawyer, gave up his legal career to collaborate with George. He worked alongside George and the late Byron Kennedy on their early short films, including “Violence in the Cinema, Part One,” a 14-minute parody of the violent films of the 1970’s. This short won two Australian Film Institute Awards, and provided the filmmaking trio with the confidence to pursue more ambitious projects and Bill was recruited as an associate producer on the original “Mad Max,” starring Mel Gibson.

Prior to starting production of the photo-realistic animated feature “Happy Feet”, Miller took part in a 6 week expedition to Antarctica. The ‘dancing penguin’ film, released in late 2006, went on to become a worldwide box office success and to win the Academy award Oscar for Best Animated Feature.

Bill and brother George co-produced the computer-animated film Happy Feet, a musical epic about the life of penguins in Antarctica. The Warner Brothers-distributed film was released in late-2006 and is one of Australia's largest ever animated film projects, with a crew of over 300 filmakers.

Bill (aka William) the youngest of the four brothers, was born to James and Angela Miller in a small Queensland country town, but was raised in Sydney, attending Sydney Boys’ High and Sydney University for his arts law degree.
