Bill Jelen (born February 17, 1965 in Salem, Ohio) is a technology author, book publisher, webmaster, television personality, and a Microsoft Excel MVP. He majored in Business at University of Notre Dame. He currently resides outside of Akron, Ohio with his wife and two sons.

Jelen is the author of "Guerilla Data Analysis Using Microsoft Excel", "The Spreadsheet at 25 - The Evolution of the Invention That Changed the World", "Learn Excel from MrExcel". He is the co-author of "Power OneNote", "VBA & Macros for Microsoft Excel", "Pivot Table Data Crunching", "Excel for Teachers", and "Excel for Marketing Managers".

In 1998, Jelen launched the MrExcel.com website, a leading portal for solutions about Microsoft Excel. In 2002, he founded Holy Macro! Books, a small publisher of books and CD-ROMs. He is a regular guest on Call for Help a television program on G4techTV Canada in Canada, G4 in the United States, and the HOW TO Channel in Australia. He also produces a video podcast each weekday covering tips for Microsoft Excel.

Jelen is a champion of literacy causes. As president-elect of the Rotary Club of Lake Township, he commissioned the Wisdom's Light public sculpture, a 10 foot tall stack of oversized books at the public library in Uniontown, Ohio. He also founded the Fresh Writers Books writing competition, an annual competition that awards summer internships and book publishing contracts to high school students.

While an employee at Telxon in 1999, Jelen co-invented a system for ordering groceries over the Internet and was awarded U.S. patent 6,129,176.

In his spare time, Jelen is a historian of American drive-in movie theaters.
