Bill Heckroth is the Iowa State Senator from the 9th District. He has served in the Iowa Senate since 2007.
Bill is a graduate of the University of Iowa, where he earned a BA in Financial Management and started out as a walk-on to the Iowa Hawkeyes baseball team. He later earned 1st Team "All-Big Ten" honors as a pitcher his senior year [1] while leading the Hawkeyes to the Big Ten Championship and a berth in the NCAA Division I College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. [2]
Heckroth currently serves on several committees in the Iowa Senate - the Education committee; the Local Government committee; the Transportation committee; and the Commerce Affairs committee, where he is vice chair. He also serves as vice-chair of the Economic Development Appropriations Subcommittee.
Heckroth was elected in 2006 with 11,902 votes, defeating Republican opponent Tom Hoogestraat. [3]
