Bill Crews (Australian clergyman)

Rev Bill Crews (born 1944) is an Australian Uniting Church Minister who established the Exodus Foundation to assist homeless and abandoned youth. His organisation provides free meals to 400 people each day, and runs a tutorial centre to help educate children who have dropped out of the system.
Crews was born in England but grew up in Australia. He studied electrical engineering with an interest in the properties of silicon but soon developed an alternative interest with the Wayside Chapel at Kings Cross, helping people with drug problems and establishing a youth refuge. In 1986, he was ordained a minister and appointed to Ashfield Uniting Church and it was there he established Exodus.
His work has been recognised by many organisations. In 1998, he was named a National Living Treasure by the National Trust. In 1999, he was awarded an Order of Australia and in 2001, he was named Ashfield's Citizen of the Year.
He also hosts the radio program Sunday Night with Bill Crews on Sydney radio station 2GB. Guests have included Helen Reddy, Bob Hawke and Kerry O'Brien.
