Bill Cleary (businessman)

William T. ("Bill") Cleary is an American entrepreneur with a background in advertising and marketing. A former high school teacher, he worked in New York advertising firms as a copywriter for several years. He then joined Apple Computer, where he worked from 1981 to 1985, helping to promote the Apple IIc and Apple IIe.

Cleary founded his own marketing company, Cleary Communications, in 1987. After taking on two other Apple alumni, Mark Kvamme and Tom Suiter, as partners, the company became known as CKS Group in 1991 and went public in 1995. Cleary left CKS in November 1998 after its merger with USWeb. He became Chairman of the Board for Matchmaker.com until its sale to Lycos in 2000.

In 2006 he became a board member of WildlifeDirect.
