Bill Bates was the sixth football coach for the Southwestern College Moundbuilders in Winfield, Kansas and held that position 12 years, from 1914 to 1925. His overall coaching record at Southwestern was 54 wins, 36 losses, and 9 ties. This ranks him 3rd at Southwestern in terms of total wins and 15th at Southwestern in terms of total winning percentage. He was the longest-tenured coach in Southwestern's history (as of completion of the 2007 season).[1]
