I am a doctoral student studying U.S. history in New York City. I've been a Wikipedia fan for years and got serious as an editor around the beginning of 2007 I guess, though my first edits were in mid-2006 when I was surprised to find a certain article did not exist and thus decided to create it myself. I've done a good amount of recent changes patrol (usually reverting vandalism, but improving random articles I come across as well) and also edited a number of articles related to history or politics, among other topics.

In late April of 2008, my request for adminship was successful and I became an administrator. I believe that admins should ultimately be accountable to the Wikipedia community. If you feel I've used my admin tools improperly please take a look at my criteria and process for administrative recall.

[edit] Article work

I haven't done nearly as much work starting and expanding articles as I would like (there are a number of ways to get distracted from those tasks) but I am a firm believer in the idea that we are here to write an encyclopedia—an obvious point which unfortunately sometimes gets lost as we fight vandals, argue Wikipedia policy, etc. Below is a list of articles I have either started or put significant time into improving. These lists will grow in the years ahead.

[edit] Created from scratch

Most of these are pretty stubby (stubbish?) but hopefully I (or better yet others) will build on them.

As you can obviously see from this list, my main interest is the way in which historians, mayors of large Midwestern cities, and newspaper correspondents have joined together with members of retro-coiffed cocaine-slanging Dominican street gangs, old-school graffiti artists, and long dead abolitionists of Scottish descent to make a Cinéma vérité documentary about a nineteenth-century Cuban slave revolt--and the vicious reprisals that followed--using angry Ivy League college students to do the re-enactments (which is unfortunately necessary given the lack of archival footage). I'm trying to turn this into a feature film someday (obviously it will sort of be a movie within a movie--kind of a Hamlet for the 21st century but with even less sex if you can imagine that), however I might have to settle for a really esoteric user box (any suggestions?).

[edit] Significant expansion

Because I did not create any of these articles, they will play no role in the feature film described above. Nonetheless I have put some time into these (for rather random reasons I might add).
