Early life:
Mark was born and raised in northeast Ohio and was often referred to as a mommies boy among family and friends. He was faced with many hurdles during this time as he managed criticism from classmates regarding his extra weight. Always a big boy he quickly turned the negative into a positive through laughter and reflecting a joyful demeanor. Much of his early life Mark was that of an animated character with his jovial spirit and outlandish personality.
Shortly after his grandfather’s death in 1993, Mark took the largest steps in his life when he detailed the deep hidden secret of his sexuality. Although it wasn’t much of a shock to those around him, it released a social firestorm within.
Career:
In 1995, Mark was introduced to the non existent chub and chasers community when he was given a copy of Bulk Male magazine and attended his first Convergence a year later. The gathering of big men and admirers was merely a handful of people on a social level, and that experience left a lasting impression on him.
The early days of the internet set the foundation of the stage that would encompass him today. Chubnet the grandfather of all chub and chaser online communities offered big men an outlet to communicate world wide with each other. Quickly gaining momentum a community was forming.
During the annual gathering of about 80 members in 1997, Mark was asked to stay in contact using the latest techs know as a web-cam. With his background in graphics he created a simple web-page that uploaded images to a hosting server. One year later MarkLive.com was unveiled as the first interactive website featuring a larger man as its main draw. His online antics quickly earned him notoriety as BigBoyMark proceeded to encompass his surroundings.
To help populate the community he formed a local club known as the Rubber City Chub Club in December of 1997 which promoted chubs and admirers to socialize on more personalize level. Although Mark knew the real growth of the community lied within the realm of the internet. With the assistance of long time friend Mike Mathews, The BigBoyMark Community network was launched in June of 1998. The domain BigBoyMark served as an anchor to a collection of adult websites devoted to the chub and chaser online community. During this time BigBoyMark earned its community recognition that adheres today and officially became his registered trademark in 2001. With the boom of multimedia, Mark appeared in four video productions under the direction of Mammoth Men Video as the success of his network swelled to host sixteen websites before commencing in mid 2002.
Shortly thereafter the BigBoyMark domain became an information bio and contact page. But Mark’s journey was far from being over as he set out to make a statement that men of size should be proud of their bodies and its reflection in a positive light. The era of blogging caught Mark’s attention in 2004 when he began sharing stories of growing up as the big boy in the neighborhood and adventures he has encountered over the years. His readers would cackle over his wild words of wisdom set around a not so fat friendly world.
In 2005 Mark landed in Las Vegas the capital of entertainment. The city known for its transient tourist gave him the opportunity to meet friends of the chubby community on a broader scale. Many of whom never attended the annual gatherings like Convergences and the east and west coast conferences. He cracked the chub persona by forming The Vegas Big Men’s Club a social element for big guys and admirers. Unlike other organizations its annual membership is free and the club meets monthly.
By 2007 Mark was honored with the humoristic title of Sin City’s Fat Ambassador for knowing all the fat friendly places and for his larger than life personality. He often joked “that it may be 115 degrees outside but the buffets are a cool 75… Wanna Go?” That sense of humor captured the attention of Hefty Harry renowned podcaster when the two joined forced (or bellies as the say it…) and created an internet radio show called ChubTalk. The show has since went into syndication via BlogTalkRadio.com and available for download on its website or itunes. It listening audience laugh, cry and even hate, at their candid look of viewing life from their biggie sized bods.
Today the journey has not ended and to ask Mark where the future may end? You will surely be granted the blessing of his belly roll chuckle when he replied “Today may be the end as were not guaranteed tomorrow. So live, love and laugh; as it will leave a lasting impression.”
