There is also a Big Black River in Maine. Does anyone think we should disambiguate?

Sure. There probably many other rivers called Big Black River. --Mattisse 14:50, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
Did some quick research and they're appear to be just the two. I'd just add a dablink at the top once Big Black River (Maine) is written. This is by far the longer and more famous of the two. Kmusser 15:00, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
Going by Google, the first eight (not counting Wikipedia) are all to Big Black River in Mississippi. That is probably because of its historical importance. So I do not think the river in Maine is the more famous. Length, per se, is not particularly important in this context, unless we are talking about the longest rivers in the world, in the U.S. etc. So I am not understanding what you are saying here. When you write the article on the river in Maine, you have a choice. You can put For Big Black River in Maine, see .... ) at the top of Big Black River which would be the easiest, or you can write a disambig page. However, if there are only two Big Black Rivers and the one in Mississippi is clearly the most historically famous, it may be overkill to have a disambig page unless the one in Maine has important links in other articles. I do not know what the disambig policy is if there are only the two articles in question. More work for Wikipedia to have extra pages if they are not needed. But I do not have strong feeling either way. Mattisse 16:08, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, by this I meant the river in Mississippi (that is this article), the one in Maine is a relatively minor river, the only link to it is on the list of rivers in Maine, I was suggesting the For Big Black River in Maine, see .... ) at the top option. Kmusser 17:11, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
