The book, originally published in 1985 by Random House[2] contains illustrated jokes and riddles based on Garfield, and the other characters created by Jim Davis.

Some jokes that appear in the book:

What did Odie say when he sat on the sandpaper? "Ruff! Ruff!"

If Garfield has six roast chickens and Odie asks for one, how many will Garfield have left? Six!

Also, the book contains mock letters that Garfield will answer in joke form. One such letter reads:

Dear Garfield:

I would like to teach my cat a few simple tricks. Is there anything I should know first? Stumped

Dear Stumped:

More than the cat!

The book also contains animation cells within it which also contain a joke or a riddle. These are similar to the comics that run in daily papers.

One joke Jon asks Garfield if they should buy a food processor, to which Garfield replies, "Don't be silly. I AM a food processor!"
