The bigeye sand tiger, Odontaspis noronhai, is a sand tiger of the family Odontaspididae, found on the continental and insular shelves of the eastern Atlantic and eastern Central Pacific oceans, at depths of between 600 and 1,000 m. Its length is up to 3.6 m for males and 3.25 m for females.
The bigeye sand tiger has a conical bulbous snout with a rounded tip. The eyes are large and ovoid with no nictitating membrane. Body color is uniform chocolate brown, with all fins except the pectorals having thin dark edging along the posterior margin.
Reproduction is ovoviviparous, the embryos feeding on their yolk sac, and other ova produced by the mother.
