Big spin

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Big spin is an aerial skateboarding trick where the skateboard makes a 360 shove-it while at the same time the skateboarder makes a body varial to the same direction (more correctly called a "body follow").

The trick was named after the inventor Brian Lotti by another skater Sal Barbier. He thought that since the trick involves spinning and 'Lotti' sounds like 'lottery' it would be appropriate to name the trick after a Californian Scratcher (called The Big Spin).

A big spin can also be performed into other aerials like nollie or fakie ollie. A backside big spin done with a kickflip is a big flip. When it is done frontside it is often made into a heel flip and becomes a big spin heel flip. The fakie version of this is known as a Rick Flip, named after Rick Howard.
