"Big Spender" is a song written by Cy Coleman and Dorothy Fields for the musical play Sweet Charity. A hit version of the song by Shirley Bassey reached No. 21 on the U.K. charts in December 1967.

"Big Spender" has been covered by many artists, including the band Queen, who used to perform it live back in the early '70's, and also performed it live once at Wembley Stadium on July 12th, 1986. Queen's performance is notable because it changed the song from its original musical feeling to a rock song.
Another notable version of the song was recorded by Peggy Lee in 1966, which became a hit on the U.S. Easy Listening charts in that year.
In an episode of British Asian sketch comedy show Goodness Gracious Me, The cast perform a parody of the song called "Big Spinster".
In an episode of The Simpsons, Homer performs the song at a yard sale with new lyrics to reflect the merchandise he is promoting.
In Hou Hsiao-hsien's 1987 film Daughter of the Nile, the song plays twice from Lin Hsiao-fang's restaurant.
The song Roc-A-Fella Billionaires by Freeway featuring Jay-Z samples Helen Gallagher's version of the song.
In an episode of Grounded for Life, Lily performs the song at a talent show, much to the dismay of Sister Helen, and later her father and mother.
In European Vacation, Mrs. Griswold performs "Big Spender" with exotic dancing while Clark (her husband) video tapes it.
