Big Mama Sausage
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Big Mama Sausage and Tijuana Mama are brand names of pickled or smoked snack sausages, originally owned by Goodmark Foods, but acquired by ConAgra in 1998 when they purchased Goodmark. Currently under ConAgra's Penrose brand, which currently only produces pickled sausage. Common in American gas stations and truck stops.
[edit] In popular culture
Tijuana Mama has become part of the Bungie Studios mythos, citing in its games and on the company's website (also here [1]) the snack food's "mechanically separated chicken, pork hearts, and protein concentrate", and the fact that it's "300% Hotter!" (per the studio's site, "(hotter than) what, we may never know. Nor want to.") According to everything2 the sausage does contain the following: "Mechanically Separated Chicken, pork, pork hearts, water, beef, spices, soy protein concentrate, salt, corn syrup, flavorings, paprika, sodium erythorbate, sodium nitrate, red 40."
"Tijuana Mama" is a song by the Electric Boy Rangers on their album "300% Hotter".
