Bidhannagar Municipal School is a primary and high school in Bidhannagar (Salt Lake City), Kolkata, India.

The school was founded in 1997, the first classes being held in Acharya Prafulla Chandra School, BK Block, Salt Lake, but soon the school was moved to its new built building in FE Block.[1] The inauguration ceremony was on the 1 July 1999, led by West Bengal finance minister Dr. Ashim Dasgupta and higher education minister Satyasadhan Chakraborty.

The three-storey building has a triangular shape with a small courtyard in the middle. It has also a huge playground just beside the main building. It is a stone's throw from Karunamoyee crossing, and thus is well linked with the whole city by numerous buses and autos.

The school to has a primary department and a high school department up to 12th standard. It gives its students the option to study in Bengali or English medium. At the +2 level, there are both science and humanities streams.

The school has well equipped laboratories and equipment for various sports. It encourages students to take part in several cultural programmes, and inter-school competition, including painting[2] and chess competitions, in which pupil Tamishra Das won the national under-8 girls' competition in the 2004 The Telegraph Schools’ Chess Championship.[3]

Students participate in an intra-school cultural championship every year known as the "shikhharthi utsav" (students' festival),[4] and the foundation day is celebrated every year on 1 July. Apart from these, regular soccer championships, kabaddi competitions, quizzes and an annual sports day[5] are also held.
