You deserve it, dear Maniac ;) Btw, not sure you know, but the text in Tengwar says "Bibliomaniac15" - I made that for you. Happy Day! Phaedriel 02:50, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

I know, dear B - I did my homework choosing a dedication that was meaningful to you ;) Have a great day! Phaedriel 02:50, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Reagan Protection

Hi there. I'm sorry to bother you, but I wanted to object to your not not protecting the Ronald Reagan article. Your reasons for declining are perfectly acceptable, though. I agree with you, there is not a lot of vandalism to the page right now, but from past history, I can guarentee that there will be a lot of it, and if I were you, someone who does not know a lot of what has been going on in the Reagan article, I probably would have declined me too. As I stated in my reason for protection on Wikipedia:Requests for page protection, Reagan is a loved public figure, and a disliked one. The vandals are usualy the ones that dislike him, and make unnecessary edits. Also, random IP users make one sentence vandalism edits to the page, but they are usually reverted, but not always. Like I stated, during the semi-protection period that the article had, it was heaven. There was hardly any vandalism to deal with, and a lot easier to edit. I guarentee that if you were in my shoes right now, you would definetly want an indefinite semi-protection grant. Please reconsider my request. Happyme22 04:55, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

Ok thanks for helping out! I really do appreciate it. Happyme22 05:23, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
I want to thank you very much for the semi-protection you placed on Ronald Reagan article. It's going to be a lot easier to edit now. Again, thank you! Happyme22 01:39, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia Motivation Award
I award this Barnstar to Bibliomaniac15 for motivating me on being a Wikipedian. Flubeca 19:40, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

Ok here the story goes: On December 3 2006, I was really bored, so I decided to go browse Wikipedia articles on my favorite Games, while browsing Battlefield 2142 I found a typo. I fixed it and continued my browsing. 10 minutes later I saw the Orange bar "You have new messages" I clicked on the bar which led me to my talk page, and saw a Message from you welcoming me to Wikipedia. I continued my browsing and then closed my computer and went to sleep.

On christmas' eve I was so exited about opening my gifts I couldn't stand still. I went on the computer to do something and I thought "Well, why not Wikipedia?". I clicked on the community portal. (I thought to myself "That guy was nice, lets see if the rest of the community is nice too.") I clicked on a categorisation project, and categorised about 10-20 articles until supper was ready. I found it fun. Since then, I have been coming at least once a week on wikipedia.

Thank you for motivating me on being a wikipedian.

[edit] Biting

Since when was I biting the IP. I didn't baby them I'll give you that but I put it down in a very robotic tone what they did (vandalize suv criticism to attack some person I guess they know), what not to do (don't vandalize). Very clear cut and dry. I'm not going to baby some vandal. You may want to baby vandals and you're free to do so but let me lay down the law clear and easy to understand without babying them. Bubbleboys 23:07, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

I'm sorry but I don't see caps lock as being impolite. Shouldn't the message be don't vandalize wikipedia? If so, what better way than to put it in caps lock. After all, that's the way to get noticed if anything. Excuse me if I don't see the point in being polite to vandals. I don't treat them impolitely but I'm not going to treat them politely when they vandalize Wikipedia broad as daylight. It's the equivalent of someone spraying graffiti (and not the pretty type) on say a huge wall mural you and several other million people have worked on and you asking them very politely to stop vandalizing the wall, or even better yet, thank them for trying out wikipedia and that they should try doing that in the sandbox. If it's clearly vandalism, you owe them nothing, whatsoever, not even respect because they've shown you disrespect by vandalizing something you work on. Bubbleboys 02:09, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

I am proposing that Wikipedia the Beautiful becomes the official theme song. You may leave me a message on my talk page telling me what you think. Thanks, AlexHillan

Thank you so much for your opinion on the wikisong. Unfortunately, I don't have any other responses so far. Unless there is a huge majority for WTB, Hotel Wikipedia will remain the official song. Also, look at my other song, "We are the Admins."

[edit] Salting pages

Hi Bibliomaniac15. Congratulations on your promotion, but in future, there's no need to salt pages such as Da Interns formally the Roe City Allstars unless they're being recreated over and over again by sockpuppets. Otherwise, we're just wasting resources on the servers by having pointless pages active on the database and accessible by web crawlers. Thanks. --  Netsnipe  ►  06:35, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Block of Nevermorestr (talk · contribs)

Could you review your block of Nevermorestr (talk · contribs)? You blocked him/her for 3RR on Moral Majority, but all of this user's reverts were of simple vandalism. An IP vandal who either has a lot of open proxies or can change his IP has been vandalising a large number of articles related to Jerry Falwell. Nevermorestr reverted several instances of this vandalism and you blocked him/her for it. --BigDT 23:56, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] I think you accidentally deleted my article

Hello, I believe you accidentally deleted an article I wrote. It was on Andre Boyer. He was the first and only African American on the internet series, Prom Queen. I think you deleted it because you make have thought it was a rewritten article on something that was deleted. That is correct. I made the corrections to his article and made it noteworthy. Could you please put my article back up. I'm sure it was an accident because I know that if there's a problem with an article we can talk to each other or warn each other. That never happened for me with this so, I know it was probably done by accident. Cheers!JoeyC5 00:20, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

I'm still a bit confused. I didn't recreate the article, I made a new one. You can't post it back up. It was a mistake that you deleted it.JoeyC5 01:59, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

I just looked at the deletion review page. I don't even know where to look for the article. I don't get it. Aren't you supposed to nominate articles for deletion? Not just delete them? This article I wrote has nothing to do with the one I wrote last time. This one is notable. Did you even read it? I'm so confused, brah. What is going on?JoeyC5 02:04, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

I thought since you're an administrator and you made a mistake by deleting the article, then you can undelete the article and then repost it. Like I said this isn't the same article that was deleted a while ago, this is just the same name of the article. JoeyC5 02:47, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Wow. That appeared quite suddenly. It took me a moment to get over the shock there. Let me consider this for a little bit, and I'll get back to you. [edit] Request for Third Opinion

template:History of Manchuria is suffering from extensive revert warring, and discussion is heading nowhere. A RfC was filed, but was only able to get one outside commentor[2]. Please provide a third opinion on whether template:History of Manchuria should be titled History of Manchuria[3] or History of Northeast China[4][5] to facilitate dispute resolution. Thank you. 08:47, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Any third opinion and a fresh perspective is welcome, however "unsophisticated" you are. However, you seem to misunderstand the dispute. The dispute is on the title within the template, which was just recently reverted to History of Manchuria by another user. Cydevil38 23:42, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Another misunderstanding, I meant my request for an opinion as an official reqeust for Wikipedia:Third Opinion, not a personal request. I dind't notice section in Wikipedia:Third Opinion for listing disputes, so I made messeges in user talk pages of Third Opnion users instead. I'm sorry for any inconvenience. [edit] template:History of Manchuria

Can you pleaes lift the protection on that template, or revert it back? I have filed for a mediation and asked other disputants to join, but some of them are not being responsive. Perhaps lifting the protection or reverting the template to a version they don't like will prompt them to either participate in the mediation process. Cydevil38 01:31, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

User:Naus and User:Assault11 are still reverting the template to their preferred version without participating in the mediation. I'd like to ask your advice on whether this satisfies cause for a reqeust for arbitration. Okay, will try that, thanks. Also, just so I know, how much traffic would there need to be, before we should try again? --Elonka 23:50, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

Ah, sorry for not being clear. I meant, you said that the Days of our Lives page couldn't be semi-protected because there wasn't enough traffic. So my question, for my own future reference is, how much "anon reversion" traffic is enough before I can justifiably request article protection? Thanks, Elonka 00:41, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] RfC User Conduct

I have filed for a user conduct[6] on User:Assault11 as the next step to resolving the dispute on template:History of Manchuria, and User:Endroit has made an "Outside View" which I don't think doesn't fit the criteria. First, he was directly invovled in the consensus of creating the template at talk:Goguryeo, and though his comments on "Manchuria" was made at talk:Goguryeo, it was later moved to template talk:History of Manchuria when the entire section on Assault11's objections to using "Manchuria" was moved there. Thus, Endroit's comment is also in template talk:History of Manchuria. And second, the gist of his view is that if Assault11 is to be put on RfC, I should be too. However, the RfC can't cover multiple users. And third, Endroit conclusion is that it's "best to force them to pursue WP:DR". But this is part of the WP:DR, and I've been following the steps closely. So it just seems that this so-called "Outside View" is just a manifestation of personal grudge, nothing more than that, and holds no relevance and substance. I'm tempted to just delete it or move it to discussion, but I wanted some outside opinion on this first if I have the grounds to do so. Any advice would be appreciated. Cydevil38 19:15, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Admin?

I was curious - you have a wiki-label that identifies you as an admin, but you don't seem to have that little icon at the top right of your user page that also does so (which is what every other afmin has). Are you in fact an administrator here in Wikipedia? - Arcayne (cast a spell) 23:29, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

It hink using the icon might be better, as someone trying to pretend to be an admin could simply put that userbox on their user page and bully folk around. I mean, I could put that infobox here:
This user is an administrator on the English Wikipedia. (verify)

Hi, we've been trying to address the issues in the Battle of Yonkers for sometime now. I think as is it is up to a reasonable standard of out-of-universe. I mean, look at the Battle of the Five Armies or other fictional battles. They're about as equally in-universe; which is to say not particularly. --Grahamdubya 04:30, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Sorry I'm not answering on your talk, I keep getting error messages when I try to get in there. I think the article is pretty well written, but I think the "what went wrong" section is the one that's most "in-universe." bibliomaniac15 An age old question... 18:06, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Mate - I would be glad to participate. Such a brilliant event, and such a brilliant cause behind it! Also, about your prior message - I feel exactly the same way. I plan to wait for quite a while before trying for Rfa again; for the right time, as you said. And also, thanks for your encouragement. A little of that always helps. [edit] Marine Mania/Dinosaur Digs expansions

Hi Bibliomaniac15, I see you've reverted me here, stating that the information is on my box. I've had a look, and all mine says is that "Dinosaur Digs is also available". Would you mind pointing out exactly where on your box it says that DD is included? Maybe I'm just missing something...I assume we're talking about Zoo Tycoon 1 Marine Mania?

I've also removed this claim at Zoo Tycoon and Zoo Tycoon: Dinosaur Digs, so you may want to revert me until this is worked out, to keep everything consistent. If it's better etiquette for me to revert myself, please just say so! 124.148.42.23 01:50, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

Yes, we're both talking about the same version. Hmmm, some other sites mention DD appearing on a second disc. I was assuming they meant Zoo Tycoon: Complete Collection but maybe there are two versions of Marine Mania 1 - one with DD and one without. Would you mind telling me where exactly on your box it says it includes DD? That'll help me to try and track down sources and box covers.
124.148.42.23 05:10, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
I've had a better look round and it seems that some stores (and eBay) bundle the two expansion packs together, probably for those that want the Complete Collection but already have Zoo Tycoon. I'm guessing this is what your friend has? Anyway, it seems that this bundling is a store offer, not a developer/publisher offer, so the "ordinary" Marine Mania, on offer at Microsoft Shop, doesn't include anything else. If you agree, I'll re-remove those statements in light of this.
124.148.42.23 13:53, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I do play the game. What evidence does the game hold? And there's no hurry to remove anything - not until all avenues have have examined!

[edit] Changes I didn't make

I don't know if this is where to bring this up, but I saw no other way of contacting you. The changes apparently made to 8 Simple Rules by my IP address were not made by me (and the only other person who uses this computer is someone I've never known to use this site at all.) Most of the changes I make to articles are very small, mostly a word or two that I believe would make the sentence clearer. You'll mostly find me in the Power Rangers sections, to which some contributors often make references to things in the Super Sentai Series (that being the Japanese show PR is a semi-adaptation of... which, contrary to the belief of some, does *not* mean that events occurring or facts revealed in it but not in Power Rangers are canonical for Power Rangers.) Changing these does not involve the deleting or rewriting of large sections. I have never attempted to edit 8 Simple Rules. And while I supposedly have been getting repeated warnings, today is the first that I have been aware of this problem. I don't know what is to be done about this.

[edit] Ayman_Ahmed_El-Difrawi

Please see my comments at the end of Talk:Ayman_Ahmed_El-Difrawi regarding potentially libelous statements in the latest edit. --RandomHumanoid() 04:05, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

  • If you can give me temporary edit access to the article -- I don't know if this is possible given that it's locked -- I will simply remove the potentially libelous statements. I don't think the article can be left in its current state. --RandomHumanoid() 19:49, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ayman Ahmed El-Difrawi

I'd like to appeal the lock of Ayman_Ahmed_El-Difrawi as concerns of libel for the current article are incredibly high. User:RandomHumanoid's statements on the talk page are dead on accurate - the information ommitted from the article which appeared to be locked was verifiable by press releases and actual legal documents while the currently locked article cites a number of outrageous claims yet makes no solid references or uses references which even contradicts said statements on the page. The fact that my edits came later on hardly make them vandalism if they are correcting the incredibly inaccurate and wildly libelous statements on the page. Quite frankly, the inferences in the entire current article, even without the blatantly libellous statements are casting the individual in an extremely negative light, and I see absolutely nothing wrong with the article posted by myself as it includes both verifiable press releases and certainly includes the negative as well. I would like to request that the edits made by me be placed there as that looks like what was originally locked there before you stepped in.--User:Occham() 15:22, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] History of Manchuria

I'm not sure if this is too much to ask, but as an administrator, can you please help preventing a edit warring on template:History of Manchuria by treating changes to the title on par with changes to an article title, thus necessitating a survey for consensus similar to those of RfM? [edit] Anus Page Protection

Hi. I noticed you turned down the request for protection for Anus. For the following reason:

He Requested:
"semi-protect. Continued Posting of REAL images of Anus's. This is not appropriate for a site used by children as well as adults, and will only continue to happen unless protections placed. Nimrauko 00:43, 29 June 2007 (UTC)"

To which you replied:
" Declined. See WP:CENSOR. bibliomaniac15 BUY NOW! 00:45, 29 June 2007 (UTC)"

However, it's worth pointing out that WP:PROFANITY states that "Words and images that would be considered offensive, profane, or obscene by typical Wikipedia readers should be used if and only if their omission would cause the article to be less informative, relevant, or accurate, and no equally suitable alternatives are available. Including information about offensive material is part of Wikipedia's encyclopedic mission; being offensive is not." I don't think that those types of pictures help the article to become any more informative. See also [7] Thanks, and happy editing. --Trumpetband WIHTW? 13:36, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The Amphibians and Reptiles Portal (P:AAR)

edit

The Amphibians and Reptiles Portal

Rhacodactylus ciliatus

I'm glad to announce that The Amphibians and Reptiles Portal (P:AAR) has been created and is ready for you to use. This portal covers any subjects related to amphibians, reptiles, herpetology, as well as WikiProject Amphibians and Reptiles.

Purposes of the portal

  • to act as the "main page" for editors interested in amphibians and reptiles. The portal page should contain all the common and useful links to relevant articles, lists, categories, as well as the project tasklist. As this portal is your tool, please feel free to organize, modify, or expand the Topics, Categories, Lists, and Tasklist sections of the portal as you see fit.
  • to recognize works of AAR editors via the "Selected Article of the Month" and "Selected Picture of the Month." You can participate in this process by nominating and voting for articles and pictures that you think deserve to be presented for each month. Selected articles and pictures receive a recognition messagebox on talk pages.
  • to lead potential AAR editors to WikiProject Amphibians and Reptiles as well as to educate general readers. Feel free to add more items for the "Did you know..." section.

Thank you for reading. If you have any questions, please leave them on the portal talk page or my user talk page. --Melanochromis

[edit] article of the month nomination

Hi Bibliomaniac, thanks for nominating the Komodo dragon article for The Amphibians and Reptiles Portal. But did you significantly contribute to that article? Because if you did, it's a "self-nomination" and you can't vote for it yourself. This "no vote for self-nominated article" principle is just there to encourage more objectivity. It's the same rule as in many other portals including the Fish Portal. But feel free to vote for other article/picture though. Enjoy! --Melanochromis 00:38, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
