[edit] Brief History

Since being established in Carlton North in 1942, Bialik College has achieved consistent VCE results. Although Bialik College is considered a 'Jewish day school', from its beginning it was intended to be a Zionist school, with the establishment of the State of Israel central to its identity. [3]

[edit] Extra Curricular Activities

Bialik College offers many extracurricular activities for students to enrich their learning experience. In collaboration with the DAV, students participate in inter school debating. As well as this, the 'MADD' department (Music, Arts, Drama, Dance) organizes a biennial musical. In 2005, the secondary school performed a world première of the stage production, DreamWorks' Prince of Egypt. In 2007, the college presented the well-known musical, Grease, to sold out audiences and the National Theatre, St. Kilda, whilst in 2008, the Greek tragedy "Antigone" to great effect, complemented by viewers as "Not just good for a school play, or for a young cast, but good, by any terms." An upcoming play will be the "Ruby Moon" production on 27-29th of May 2008. The play will be held at St Martins Youth Arts Centre.

[edit] Shlichim

One of Bialik's many projects includes the Shlichim project, in which 'shlichim' (representatives from Israel) are sent over to Australia, and assist in the running of Informal Education at the College. The 'shlichim' organise various fundraisers, activities, and camps to enrich the education of the students, and have fun. The current shlichim at Bialik College are Vered Hugi, Yair Brosh and Michal Gottlieb. New shlichim arrive every year.

[edit] Facilities

Bialik College is constantly building new facilities for its students. Since the late 1990s, it has built a building for its VCE department, an 'Early Learning Centre', the 'Besen Family Art & Technology Centre', and most recently completed in September 2006, the 'Gringlas Sport Centre'. Additionally, the school has established the 'Rosenkranz Centre' aimed at providing "enrichment and extension programs for students".
