As of 2001 India census,[2] Bhum had a population of 17,510. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Bhum has an average literacy rate of 68%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 76% and female literacy of 60%. 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.
