[edit] Missing information
Missing board of governors, blurb about CEO, and especially recent newsworthy activities, such as the copper mine strike in S. America and opposition by the likes of Pierce Brosnan to the LNG platform off the California coast. This entry focuses much too heavily on the merger and not much else. - IstvanWolf 21:39, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
If I am not mistaken, the ore shipment port of Ponta de Ubu (ES Brazil) and the Samarco ore drying facility located in direct proximity of the port is also run by BHP Billiton. This facility is just south of Guarapari --Skippern 17:37, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
Just letting people know, the paragraph on Billiton is word-for-word the same as on BHP Billiton's website (http://www.bhpbilliton.com/bb/aboutUs/companyOverview/outHistory/billitonHistory.jsp). This should probably be sourced and re-written.
[edit] NPOV
Hello
This article sounds a little out of the NPOV view.
In 2003 after just two years at the helm, he abruptly stepped down as the board members began questioning his ambitious acquisition plans.
This is borderline.
A link to BHPstinks.com is a clear NPOV violation, as there is no controversy section in the article. I have removed that external link.
Since there are no references in the article, NPOV violations must be dealt with immediately. If you would like to post a controversial comment, please cite the source and avoid weasel words. If you find anything controversial without a source, feel free to place a {{Fact|Month Year}} tag after the sentence. For example,
BHP has been constantly under fire after the CEO began dumping near Uluru. [citation needed]
Press 'edit' to find out what happened there. - Note: BHP isn't dumping near Uluru, that was just an example.
Thank you! Auroranorth 07:14, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
- I cleaned up the CEO bit and the article looks reasonably clean of POV so I have removed the tag. I've also added a few cites so with a little more effort we should be able to remove the cite tag soon. Lumberjack Steve 19:04, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:BHP Logo.png
Image:BHP Logo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
