The nearest Railway station is Dabra, and the nearest airport is Gwalior. The distance from Gwalior is 72 km. Its a beautiful town surrounded by a river called Parvati.

As of 2001 India census,[2] Bhitarwar had a population of 15,266. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Bhitarwar has an average literacy rate of 54%, lower than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 65% and female literacy of 41%. 17% of the population is under 6 years of age.
