Is the surname Bhatta a variant of this? (For example Jayarasi Bhatta and Kumarila Bhatta.) Rigadoun (talk) 18:51, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bhatt and Bhat are different.

Bhatt is an entirely different clan from the Bhat (the latter normally pronounced as Bhaat). Hence the following line is incorrect/irrelevant and should be removed, as it creates confusion:

"Bhat were also known to keep genealogies of Rajput kings. The most common surnames for the Bhat caste are Barot, Brahmbhatt, and Rao."

For example, Barots, Brahmbhatt and Rao are entirely different clans and have nothing to do with Bhatts. I am surprised that someone has mixed in everything here.—Preceding unsigned comment added by {} (talk • contribs)

It'd be nice to have a source for that. WLU 02:14, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
