Bhashaindia.com

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bhashaindia.com is a website started by Microsoft to promote Indic language computing on the Internet. Most of India's relatively small internet population are fluent in English. However, there exists a market for those who are more comfortable with their respective regional languages. These people often lack access to computing facilities. For example, despite being one of the most commonly spoken languages in the world, Hindi has little presence on the internet. As such, tools for Indic language computing have not been developed in the past.

The website is broadly divided into two sections: one for end users and another for developers and linguists.

Microsoft's Indic IME is available for free download from the website. The Indic IME enables computer users to type Indic scripts, (including conjunct formation), using a variety of keyboards.
