Bhante Vimalaramsi

Bhante Vimalaramsi (born 1946) is an American Buddhist monk and abbot of Dhammasukha Meditation center in Lesterville Missouri.

Bhante began with the Burmese style of vipassana meditation in 1974 at the age of 28. He became a monk in 1986 and practiced meditation intensively. In 1995 he wrote a book on The Anapanasati Sutta, over which more than one million copies have been distributed. In 2005 he was given the honorary title of Sayadaw Gyi (Experienced Teacher).

In 2007 he became the first U.S.A Representative for the World Buddhist Supreme Conference.

Bhante teaches directly from the Suttas in the Pali Canon and places less emphasis on the commentaries. He teaches by directly reading from the Suttas and explaining what they mean and how to use them in practical terms.
