===>The point And what is this expert going to write on the topic of a slang term in an obscure industry? Is this ever going to be encyclopedic? If this mysterious expert doesn't write a decent article in the next few days, I'll re-insert the template for deletion. -Justin (koavf), talk, mail 00:26, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Symode

The problem may arise from the fact he is a very young (~16) editor with a rather single-minded dedication to improving articles with relation to his school, along with two or three other editors. It's been a neverending source of chaos at our Wikiproject (Western Australia) - especially when they start creating articles or nominating them for FA even though they fall embarrassingly short - but a lot of it is fairly harmless. If you have any specific concerns or questions about them, feel free to drop a note at my talk page or that of any of the regulars at WP:WA. Orderinchaos 03:37, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your Missalina Rei Request

Hi, Bfg. Recently I completed a short article on Missalina Rei in response to your request some two years ago. However, I notice it has been mostly deleted by a person called Cyrus XIII. I don't have that much interest in Visual Kei bands, but I thought you might want to have a look at the article history and comment on his edits. Thanks for calling my attention to the genre. It's very interesting. Pkeets 07:23, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

BTW, if you're interested in Visual Kei bands, you might want to look at Aliene Ma'riage, too. Cyrus XIII has done a similar edit job on it. Pkeets 07:37, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

Ditto Noir Fleurir. Pkeets 16:20, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi, Pkeets. I had no idea who Missalina Rei was until it popped up on WP:AR2. It was not me who requested it, I actually saved it from getting deleted, as someone did the google test with very few results. Upon doing so, I found out there was a Japanese article on the subject which seemed to be quite extensive. So I asked for a translation to fulfill the AR2 request. Thanks for your work :-) Bfg 15:38, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the response. I'm told the Japanese Wikipedia articles are unsuitable as references, and to tell the truth, some of them do look commercial, so might not make a suitable article in the English Wikipedia. From looking at the history, I thought it was you who requested the Messalina Rei article, but if not, is there any way to find out who did? I don't really have much interest in the genre, so I don't want to take the time to argue points with Cyrus, etc., and otherwise try to maintain the articles. It's irritating that he's edited them down to just a discography, but still I'm not going to get further involved.Pkeets 12:23, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
Hi. I've found the original requester. It's User:TUF-KAT, a Wikipedia admin. I had to trawl through the edit history of two different pages, as the request is actually from 2003, when this project was quite different from what it is today. See Requested Articles for the original request. I've also briefly seen your argument about verifiability and notability. It was the lack of sources found by the Google test that first spawned my interest in this article. It is my opinion that the lack of online sources may stem from some sort of systemic bias which is a known problem in Wikipedia. I agree with the claim that the lack of English online documentation should not be sufficient reason for deletion. However it is important to cite sources even if they are in another language or is only available offline. The CDs themselves can rarely be used as sources, as any classification or similar would constitute original research. Hope I've helped you out a bit. Bfg 19:07, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks very much for the info. There were a few English sources for these artlicles, but Cyrus has deleted almost all the info that's come from them because he thinks they're unsuitable as references--they're translations, or fan run sites, etc., and not scholarly or magazine based. I don't read Japanese, but I did look for some Japanese sources through Babelfish and didn't see anything that didn't look very commercial. I also did an article on Sandi and the Sunsetz, and from that I gather it's hard for Asian bands to break into Europe or the US market, meaning they are totally ignored by English sources. I also know that obstacles in the Japanese language limit what reading material is published for the average person, also limiting what you'll find online. I'll contact TUF-KAT and see if he/she wants to take on a bit of maintenance of the articles. Pkeets 15:06, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
