As far as I know the New York Dolls got their name from a shop called 'the hospital for new york dolls', not this movie...?

It was either the Doll Hospital, The original Valley... movie, or the pills that they were addicted to in the original movie. Those pills were known as reds, DOLLS, and downers.JBDay 22:35, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] How to categorize the film?

The introductory paragraph calls BVD an American musical comedy, but I'm not sure this is quite accurate. Roger Ebert says Russ Meyer wanted a comedy/musical/horror/melodrama/camp script. So I'm wondering if the way BVD is described in the article about the novel Valley of the Dolls — "a satirical pastiche" — would better describe the film. Or should it be called a comedy/musical/horror/melodrama/camp extravaganza? Anyone? Kinkyturnip (talk) 18:05, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
