Portal Catholicism

Thanks for your offer. There's one big disadvantage, doing the portal alone. You don't get feedback. I would appreciate any suggestions or improvements of the portal. --Thw1309 (talk) 09:17, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Portal:Vatican City/Topics

A tag has been placed on Portal:Vatican City/Topics, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Portal:Catholicism

The page, you created, looks great. As I was told, you only should add the citations, as I added on the Pieta by Migelangelo. There's only one question left. Please look at Wikipedia:Portal guidelines and Wikipedia:WikiProject portal dynamics. There they tell to use the system, I have, but everyone else keeps telling me to use the system of your picture page.--Thw1309 (talk) 08:56, 24 December 2007 (UTC) You are right about the patron article, but an enormous hole would look even worse. I will create a section in the news or catholic citation. Then the patron article will be shorter.--Thw1309 (talk) 08:56, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

The portal does not belong to me. So, if you know a way to improve the portal: Be bold. Thanks for improving the portal. Happy editing and a Merry Christmas to you. --Thw1309 (talk) 19:01, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
Your changes are excellent. I only had to change the size of the articles, to reach similar size, because otherwise, ther would be holes in the portal.--Thw1309 (talk) 22:57, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
There is one problem left. The patron of the day section is to short now. I am trying to have articles of the same size in the end. Then the change of the articles will not create large gaps. If you look at the archive, you will see, that sometimes prayer, patronage and attributes are quite long. With an article so short, I do not have space to adjust the rest of the article. So, the section has to be longer (not as long as it has been)--Thw1309 (talk) 00:56, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

Award

The Special Barnstar
I give you this award for your outstanding work, recreating Portal:Catholicism. May God bless you. Thw1309 (talk) 13:40, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

Your color change on Portal Catholicism

I tried the gold color on the portal header. There it shows, what it really is, a light brown. Wikipedia is unable to show a realistic golden color. As you can see in history of the header, originally, I tried #fde910. That`s a bit better, but to be honest, this looks much like orange. The portal would look great with a real golden border, but as long as this is not available, I think, we should use the trick of heraldry and substitute gold with yellow. That's the solution, the Vatican uses on his flag too. --Thw1309 (talk) 09:43, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

Missing image Image:Allegory of peace and heaven - Prunksaal - Austrian National Library.jpg

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Allegory of peace and heaven - Prunksaal - Austrian National Library.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Allegory of peace and heaven - Prunksaal - Austrian National Library.jpg is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:Allegory of peace and heaven - Prunksaal - Austrian National Library.jpg, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Portal:Heraldry

What are you doing with the portal? Gimmetrow 03:56, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Stop, all these articles exist, and there is a rotation schedule when there is no selected article. Gimmetrow 03:57, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
{{random portal component}} may not be appropriate for this portal. The portal currently selects an article for a month. Gimmetrow 04:03, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
There is an article which rotates daily. That could be set up for random. But the selected articles already exist, they don't need to be recreated. At most it would involve making some redirects to fit the {{random portal component}} framework. Gimmetrow 04:07, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Changes like this could be beneficial, but it would be best if they were done on a subpage so they didn't affect the version seen live. I went to the portal as you were editing and it was a bunch of redlinks, which didn't look so good. Experiment on a subpage if you want, though. Gimmetrow 04:13, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Calendar of saints

The first thing, I'm using is Wikipedia. I'm looking on the section holidays and observances. There, some of the saints with articles on Wikipedia can be found. Then I look on catholic online. When I still haven't found a saint, who has a correct feast day and an article on Wikipedia, then I look on the saints calendar of the diocese of Münster. Doing this, at least I find a stub, which I can expand to fit into the saints section.--Thw1309 (talk) 09:02, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Re: Portal:Ancient Greece

Hi there, sorry for not explaining properly. If you place <categorytree>Ancient Greece</categorytree> on the page it should produce an expandable list, see an example here. If you don't like the look of the tree then it's by no means a requirement, it's just an easy way to expand the categories section automatically. Let me know if you need any more help, Seaserpent85 19:08, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Portal catholicism template

I removed your color changes on the template, because in Germany and other European countries, shades of violet represent not the catholic church but the protestant communities. For example please see here. The yellow shield, standing at the entrance of a village or town, shows the dates of the catholic mass and the violet the dates of protestant devine service. Please feel free to use every color, brown and green stripes, if you want, but please no shade of violet. --Thw1309 (talk) 06:59, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Re: Portal:Mexico

Hi there Bewareofdog, first of all nice userpage ;) I've taken a look over the portal for you and it all looks pretty good - perhaps why only a few issues were brought up in the peer review. The only problem that stands out is the History of Mexico section, at present when you follow the archive link you only get July - perhaps this means you need to fill out the other months? One nice idea you could implement would be adding captions to images, for example all images at Portal:Amusement parks display a comment when hovered over. The tab system appears to be slightly misaligned, but that could just be my set up here - nothing too major though. Apart from those, I think the portal is nearly good enough for featured status, maybe you should consider nominating it? Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with, Seaserpent85 22:54, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Template:Userboxes/Intro

A tag has been placed on Template:Userboxes/Intro requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

Hi Bewareofdog. Can you explain why you're putting various bird articles into the Mexico WikiProject's domain? Most of these range across most of the New World—or even further! I can see putting in the species which are endemic to Mexico, but as for the rest... MeegsC | Talk 15:38, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of National symbols of Mexico

A tag has been placed on National symbols of Mexico requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. National symbols of Mexico

Hi! Just a small suggestion. Perhaps you could have developed this article a little bit more in your userpages before putting it into article namespace. That way any non-Wikipedian who comes across the page would see the national symbols of Mexico well-represented in Wikipedia. Outsiders may not understand the developmental process Wiki articles go through. Cheers. --- Taroaldo (talk) 04:11, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:ADRIAN_III.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:ADRIAN_III.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 10:12, 1 May 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rettetast (talk) 10:12, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

The Holocaust

Certain users are denying Catholic deaths during the Holocaust and deleting any sections that tell about persecution as unsourced or calling my sources "anecdotal" or "religious". A mention to Maximilian Kolbe was deleted, too. As a prominent user in the Catholic Wikiproject, I though you should know about this. Erik the Red 2 (AVE·CAESAR) 22:10, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
