Bewal is a town and Union Council of Gujar Khan Tehsil in Rawalpindi District, Punjab province, Pakistan[1]. It is a small but growing town and is one of the richest areas of the tehsil as there are a large number of people from Bewal who have migrated to Europe, especially to the United Kingdom. An international hospital is now being built in Bewal. Bewal is also recognized for its avid bull racing events.

It is a widely believed legend that the immediate descendants of legendary Rajput warrior and former King Prithviraj Chauhan are living today in the Dhera Kanyal area of Bewal. Thus the name Kanyal taken after the great grandson of Pritviraj Chauhan who settled there hundreds of years ago.

The inhabitants are proud of their traits and their warrior customs are still celebrated. Although a number claim direct lineage, Dhera Kanyal is the only place which can claim this because of the history of the village, as recognized by family trees which are still preserved by the people.
