The park is historically more closely associated with the Incorporated Village of Farmingdale than with the community of Bethpage,[citation needed] which was known as "Central Park" at the time the park opened in 1932.

This needs support. Also, there was already the hamlet of Bethpage (now Old Bethpage) - which contains far more of BSP than the village of Farmingdale does --JimWae 21:30, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
