Dr. Betty Siegel is the former Kennesaw State University president and is an author. Dr. Siegel was the first female president in the University System of Georgia.[1] Serving 25 years, she was the longest serving female president of a state university in the United States.

Born Betty Lentz in Cumberland, Kentucky, January 24, 1931, she is the daughter of Carl N. and Vera (Hogg) Lentz. Dr. Siegel is currently (2007) President Emeritus and Distinguished Chair of Leadership, Ethics & Character at Kennesaw State University.

Betty Siegel received her bachelors degree from Wake Forest, a Masters Degree from the University of North Carolina, a Ph.D. in Education from Florida State University and post-doctoral studies at Indiana University.[2] She holds five honorary doctorates.
