Betty Jack Davis (March 4, 1932 – August 2, 1953) was a country music singer born in Corbin, Kentucky who was one half of the duet The Davis Sisters (country) with Skeeter Davis (no relation).
[edit] Career
The girls were best friends in high school in the late 1940s. They decided to form a duet after graduation and quickly became a popular concert act. In 1953, the girls scored a number one hit with I Forgot More Than You'll Ever Know. However, Betty Jack died in an car accident just as the song hit the national charts.
Betty Jack's younger sister Georgia Davis took her place in a revised version of the Davis Sisters in 1954 but the new duo did not achieve the success of the original. Skeeter Davis eventually left the duet in 1957 and went on to a solo career.
