Bethlehem Catholic High School

Bethlehem Catholic High School, more commonly referred to as Becahi or just Beca, is a parochial high school, located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, in the United States. The school is located at 2133 Madison Avenue, in Bethlehem, in the Lehigh Valley region of the state.

Located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Allentown, the school's student population of 750 comes predominantly from the Lehigh Valley region of eastern Pennsylvania and western New Jersey. In terms of student population it is one of the smallest Lehigh Valley high schools.

The school's mascot is the Golden Hawk, and school colors are brown and gold.

Bethlehem Catholic has high levels of academic accomplishment. Among Bethlehem Catholic graduates in 2005, 96 percent went on to post-secondary education, with 78 percent pursuing four year college and university degrees.

Average SAT scores of Bethlehem Catholic students, as of 2005, are 571 in math and 570 in verbal, vastly exceeding national averages.

In 1985, Bethlehem Catholic High School placed second in the Scholastic Scrimmage academic trivia contest, losing to Stroudsburg High School in the finals.

Bethlehem Catholic is one of 12 Lehigh Valley high schools that compete in the Lehigh Valley Conference.

Bethlehem Catholic has distinguished itself nationally and in the state of Pennsylvania with the following state championships:

  • Football: 1988 (inaugural) Class AA champions, 1990 Class AAA champions (Pennsylvania state champions, first two time champion in PIAA football champonship history). They have also been ranked nationally in USA today at numerous times since 1993.
  • Track and Field: 2002 runner-up, 2003

Bethlehem Catholic has won many Lehigh Valley Conference championships, including the following sports and years (prior to 2001, the Lehigh Valley Conference was known as the East Penn Conference):

  • Baseball: 1981, 2005, 2006.
  • Football: 1974, 1981, 1985, 1988, 1989, 1996, 1999, 2000, 2001.
  • Girls Basketball: 1992. PIAA District XI Class AAA Champions 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995.
  • Girls Tennis: 2006.
  • Girls Volleyball: 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991.
  • Boys Basketball: 2003.
  • Boys Volleyball: 2007.
