From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Congregation of the Sisters of the Imitation of Christ - or Bethany Madhom is a congregation in the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church. Bethany Madhom (SIC) was founded by the Servant of God Archbishop Mar Ivanios in 1925 in the Malankara Orthodox Church. Along with Archbishop Mar Ivanios the whole congregation (first 10 members) reunited with the Catholic Church in 1930.

The Congregation gives importance to liturgical life as a life of prayer and contemplation. The spiritual development of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church is the primary motive of the Congregation. The Congregation was raised to Pontifical Status in 1956.

At present the Congregation has nearly 800 members in five provinces, working world wide.
