[edit] surrendered to preserve "the structure"...

Frank was reportedly one of the few SS officers inducted into the rites at Wewelsburg Castle, and after the war claimed that he had arranged the eventual surrender of Berchtesgaden to prevent needless damage to the structure.

Wewelsburg is in the northwest of Germany; Berchtesgaden in the southeast. Is "the structure" supposed to mean the Berghof (which is in Obersalzberg, in Berchtesgaden)?

A reference would be good in any case.
