[edit] Summary

A 19th Century Bermudian working boat. Called a Bermuda sloop, it uses the type of rig, known as a Bermuda rig, evolved on the larger, and better-known, Bermudian ships also called Bermuda sloops. Such work boats are rare, today, though a scaled down version, the Bermuda Fitted Dinghy, is used for a class of racing by Bermudian yacht clubs, and the rig, typically in less extreme form than was common in Bermuda (where very tall, raked masts, long bowsprits, and vast areas of sail were the norm), is now used almost universally on sloops, ketches and other sailing boats.
