Berkshire Shire Hall R.F.C. are an English rugby union club, who play in the Berks/Bucks & Oxon 1 South league and are based in the village of Sonning, on the outskirts of Reading.
[edit] History
Shire Hall rugby club was created in 1958 as a council workers team. It has now opened up and anyone may join. In 2006 the team won the Berkshire Plate having beaten Broadmoor R.F.C. in the semi-finals and Hungerford R.F.C. in a hard-fought final.
The final game of the year is the Keith Walker Memorial Match, which normally takes place in the first weekend of May. It is special in that it is the younger half of the club verses the older half, the cut-off typically being around the age of 32. In recent years the 'young-uns' have beaten the 'old-gits'.
[edit] Recruiting
Shire Hall welcomes adult players of any age or ability. Training is at the Berkshire Sports and Social Club, Sonning Lane, Sonning on Tuesday nights. Pre-season training usually starts mid-July and continues until the last game of season.
