Berikon was mentioned for the first time in 1153 as a court place "Berchheim". The name of the place changed its name with the time, of Berchheim über Bergheim, Berchan, Berkein to Berikon.

In 1902, the Bremgarten-Dietikon-Bahn was opened and Berikon received a connection to the outside world. Until far in the 20th century Berikon was a rural village populated 900 inhabitants in 1950 with a boom of construction activity. Within thirty years the total population increased.
