From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Bergen family includes many noted members such as Candice Bergen and Edgar Bergen. The Bergen family has its main roots in Bergen, Hesse and Bergen, Lower Saxony in Germany and Bergen in Norway.
Some Mennonite Bergen families immigrated to Russia when Catherine the Great of Russia issued a Manifesto in 1763 inviting all Europeans to come and settle various pieces of land within Russia, especially in the Volga River region.
