Berean Christian High School (Walnut Creek, California)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Berean Christian High School is a private, Christian coeducational high school in Walnut Creek, California, serving grades nine through twelve. Berean Christian's name comes from the Bereans in Acts 17:11 who "received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.[1]" Berean Christian has served the East Bay since 1969, having moved to its current Walnut Creek campus in 1985. Berean Christian's goals are two-fold: to prepare the student to enter the college of his or her choice and to integrate fully a Christ-centered education through the Word of God for its young people.

[edit] Enrollment Procedures

In January, a Prospective Student Day is held to give students a feel for the campus and its classrooms. Furthermore, parents have an optional informational night in which they may meet the administration and teachers and receive an informational packet. Following parents' night, applications to the school and application may be sent in February. After an application has been sent, each student considered is contacted in order to schedule a family interview with the principal or the one of the deans. Then, the family will receive a letter of acceptance or non-acceptance in writing by mail.

[edit] Philosophy

[edit] Educational

Berean Christian's educational philosophy holds that all reality, and thus all academic matters, should be based and interpreted by God's standards, as found in His divine revelation, the Bible. Since God is held to have created the universe, all has the purpose of glorifying Him. Thus, education is a training, through the Holy Spirit, to bring the Christian into a closer fellowship with God the Father by the strengthening of his mind for godly living. Every aspect of man, the spiritual, mental, social, and physical must be educated in the light of God; namely, that all truth is the truth of God and that all reality must be interpreted in the light of His Word.
