Berahle (woreda)

Berahle is one of the 29 woredas in the Afar Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Administrative Zone 2, Berahle's territory includes part of the Afar Depression. This woreda is bordered on the south by Afdera and Abala, on the southwest by the Tigray Region, on the west by Koneba, on the north by Dallol, and on the northeast by Eritrea.

The major body of water in this woreda is the saline Lake Karum (also known as Lake Assela). Towns in Berahle include Berahle and Tiyarabora.

Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 41,455, of whom 18,840 were males and 22,615 were females; at least 1,270 or 3.06% of its population are urban dwellers, which is greater than the Zone average of 2.7%. Information is not available for the area of Berahle, so its density cannot be calculated.[1]
