[edit] History
Beppu Nights is a short concept album about the city of Beppu in Japan.
[edit] Trivia
- It is the first Awaken album to feature electro loops, though sparsely.
- Some parts were written in Beppu, Japan, then finalized and recorded in Brussels, Belgium.
- The only part recorded in Japan was the noise from the train and train station on the title-track.
- The idea of "Diamond Ring Department" was inspired by music played in Japanese department stores (デパート, depa-to) or 100 yen shops.
[edit] Track listing
- 1. "The Train Is Leaving Kokura" (The Train Is Leaving 小倉)
- 2. "Beppu Nights" (別府Nights)
- 3. "Diamond Ring Department" (ダイアモンド・リング・デパート)
- 4. "The Collectivists"
- 5. "I Know Time Is Passing By..."
[edit] Design
To create some interaction between music and images, the cover art, showing Beppu-City at night, is completed online by pictures of Beppu-City during a Christmas firework.
[edit] Availability
Online (free for download by copyright owner). The cover art is also downloadable and printable by every internaut. Awaken releases copies on CDR for promotional use.
[edit] Derivates
A two-tracks single has been derivated in February of 2008, featuring a band version of "I Know Time Is Passing By..." and a disco take of "Beppu Nights". A slideshow video of "Beppu Nights" -disco take- is also available on the net.
